Professor Alain Fogue unleashes an 8-page bombshell letter. He fears a genocide, denounces the creation of a non-elected successor Vice-President, and calls on Presidents Paul Biya, Emmanuel Macron, Donald Trump as well as the UN.
The blow came from where it was least expected: the Kondengui Central Prison. On September 2, 2026, Professor Alain Fogue Tedom, the economic brain of the Movement for the Renaissance of Cameroon and a prisoner for 6 years, released an explosive open letter addressed to the entire world. The recipients include President Paul Biya himself, but also the African Union-AU, the UN, President Emmanuel Macron in Paris, President Donald Trump in Washington, Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem, and even Switzerland and the Commonwealth. The correspondence concerns “Kamtophobia, Bamiphobia”.

“We are moving from a Republic to a monarchy”
At the heart of his charge is the famous post of Vice-President of the Republic created in April 2026. A vice-president who will be appointed by Paul Biya, but who would automatically become president in case of vacancy. Without election. For Fogue, this is a pure and simple constitutional coup d’état. He cites Article 64 of the 1996 Constitution: “no revision may affect the republican form.” For him, this is violated. He calls it: “Succession by agreement, within the family, without going through the polls.” And he drives the point home: having been seized at the end of April, the African Union remains silent. A guilty silence, according to him.
“Cameroon is the Rwanda of 1993”
This is the phrase that will make the rounds of the country. Fogue writes: “Today’s Cameroon resembles Rwanda before April 1994.” He brings up the contentious issue: the “hidden war” of 1955-1971. He claims 400,000 Bamiléké deaths, or 37% of the community at the time, out of a total population of 6.4 million in 1970. He pushes the comparison as far as the Shoah. The reason is that, according to him, the Bamilékés are today victims of a “political apartheid.” The proof: “Never a Bamiléké Minister of Defense since independence. Never a Minister of Finance, a Chief of Staff of the armies, a special Chief of Staff under Biya in 43 years.” He adds that even in banking or agro-industry, they would be forbidden from buying Société Générale or SOCUCAM.
Kamto, the internal enemy
The entire letter revolves around Maurice Kamto. For Fogue, the hatred against Kamto is “kamtophobia” which hides a “state bamiphobia.” He recalls the 1992 presidential election lost by Fru Ndi: “The Bamilékés paid dearly.” That of 2018: “The hatred of the Bamiléké was unleashed.” And that of 2025: Kamto’s candidacy rejected on August 5 by the Constitutional Council after an “act of cybercrime on the MINAT website,” according to him.
He brings up the phrase of Jean from Delegate Minister Dieu Momo on February 4, 2019 on CRTV: “In Germany, there was a very rich people… one day Hitler put them in gas chambers… Mr. Kamto must know where he is leading his people.” Fogue notes: “7 years later, he is still minister.”
A country on its knees
Professor Alain Fogue paints a bleak picture: Anglophone war since 2017, Boko Haram since 2014, post-electoral crisis of 2025 with “dozens of protesters shot at point-blank range.” He cites the assassination of Martinez Zogo in January 2023, and the indictment of DGRE boss Léopold Maxime Eko Eko.
He calls on Switzerland: “Biya has made the Intercontinental Geneva his second palace.” And Israel: via its advisor Eran Moas and its “Israeli legion at the heart of state terror.”
He says he is ready to die
Last line, chilling: “This correspondence may cost me my life. But I am ready, like Um Nyobe and Ossende Afana, to be assassinated for the LIBERATION of the People.” He lists three demands: first, that the post of heir vice-president be abolished. Then, that we return to the 1996 Constitution; that it is the president of the Senate who ensures the interim for 20 to 120 days. Finally, that the entire Electoral Code be redone before any election.
Agrégé in economics, former national treasurer of the MRC, Alain Fogue has been in prison since the night of September 21 to 22, 2020. Sentenced to 7 years by the Military Tribunal. The UN, through its Working Group on Arbitrary Detention (Opinion 63/2022), has requested his release. Yaoundé has never complied.
