The 45th extraordinary session of the Board of Directors of the Special Inter-municipal Equipment and Intervention Fund (FEICOM) was held on Friday, February 20, 2026, at the institution’s headquarters building in Yaoundé. The proceedings were chaired by Georges ELANGA OBAM, Minister of Decentralization and Local Development, also Chairman of the said Board.

This strategic meeting saw the participation of the Minister Delegate at the Presidency of the Republic in charge of Public Procurement, special guest, as well as several members of the government concerned by the project, notably the heads of the departments of Finance, Economy, Public Works, Employment, Water, and Environment. Also present were the Directors General of the Autonomous Sinking Fund and the National Civil Engineering Equipment Pool.
At the heart of the discussions: the project to establish an inter-municipal pool of civil engineering and hydraulic machinery. Presented by the Director General of FEICOM, this large-scale program is financed by Standard Chartered Bank, through a loan guaranteed by US EXIMBANK.
The project provides for the acquisition of 263 latest-generation civil engineering machines, for a total cost of 48 254 334 240 FCFA. The delivery schedule has already been set:
40 pieces of equipment expected at the Port of Douala in April 2026;
150 machines in July 2026;
68 pieces of equipment in August 2026;
05 crushers in June 2027.

After the presentation of the report, the Chairman of the Board opened the debates, successively giving the floor to the Minister in charge of Public Procurement, members of the government, and directors.
At the end of the discussions, the participants committed to accelerating the necessary steps for the effective implementation of the project. The stated objective is clear: to provide municipalities with high-performance tools to sustainably meet the challenges related to road construction and maintenance, urban road development, and drinking water supply.
Through this initiative, FEICOM confirms its central role in supporting decentralization and strengthening the operational capacities of local authorities.
