The national president of the Cameroonian Party for National Reconciliation invites Cameroonians to register on the electoral lists to shift the majority in the National Assembly in 2027.

The deputy and president of the PCRN takes the opportunity offered by the public debate on this subject to point out that this legal void allows the legal nature of the unlimited absence of the head of state from the country and does not oblige the government to justify itself. The politician calls on his fellow citizens who want this void to disappear by showing them the solution and the steps to follow. According to him, only “another majority in the National Assembly” can introduce changes regarding the duration of the president of the Republic outside the national territory. The current situation is that the Cameroon People’s Democratic Rally (RDPC), the ruling party, holds the overwhelming majority in the National Assembly with 152 deputies, of whom 23 have already died, compared to only 28 for the other eight represented parties, known as the opposition.
A reality that does not currently allow the opposition to contradict the government or force the regime to introduce a modification that will close the breaches opened in favor of the president of the Republic. As the legislative elections approach, the deputy reminds Cameroonians interested in this debate that there is still time for the opposition to win the majority in the Assembly. The people being sovereign, can in 2027 elect more opposition deputies than those of the ruling party.

To get there, registration on the electoral lists is the starting point. He again invites Cameroonians to register massively on the electoral lists. The ongoing revision campaign of the electoral lists ends on August 31, 2026. The new campaign will be launched on January 2, 2027, if the electoral body is not convened before then.
Since the return to multiparty politics in 1990, the opposition has succeeded in obtaining the majority in the National Assembly once. This was after the legislative elections of March 1, 1992. The ruling party, the RDPC, faced with competition, won 88 seats out of 180. The other parties, despite the boycott by the SDF and the UDC, won 92, including 68 for the UNDP, 18 for the UPC, and 6 for the MDR. It is therefore up to the opposition parties to invest themselves to improve their performance, at a time when the regime shows many signs of exhaustion, to reposition themselves as in 1992.
