
Flames consumed shops and other facilities at the fruit market located in the parcours vita area in the Febe district of Yaoundé 2nd commune.
A fire broke out on the night of April 21 to 22, 2026, at the market located in the parcours vita of Yaoundé city. Of still unconfirmed origin, the flames spread rapidly from one space to another, consuming about thirty shops in their path. They resulted from a short circuit that occurred during the night on electrical installations before escalating, witnesses told the media. In terms of the toll, in addition to shops distributed in the main building constructed by the city council, the fire also ravaged a restaurant located at the back. While material losses are yet to be evaluated, no loss of life has been reported.

The firefighters deployed to the scene were unable to stop the progression of the fire earlier, the extent of which can be estimated from the ashes and charred debris. This situation brings back to the table the issue of safety in markets. These structures where electrical installations and overloaded power lines are often the cause of fires and enormous losses to the detriment of traders and owners.
