Driven by the performance of Plantations du Haut Penja, Cameroonian banana exports show a clear increase in March 2026, confirming the sector’s dynamism.
Banana producers operating in Cameroon shipped 23,977 tons internationally during March 2026, according to data from the Cameroonian Banana Association (Assobacam). This volume is a significant increase compared to the 19,585 tons recorded in the same period in 2025. Year-on-year, exports thus increase by 4,392 tons, representing growth of 22.4%.
This improvement is largely based on the performance of the company Plantations du Haut Penja (PHP), a local subsidiary of the French agro-industrial group Compagnie fruitière de Marseille. As a dominant player in the Cameroonian market, the company exported 17,850 tons in March 2026, compared to 13,809 tons a year earlier. This represents an increase of 4,041 tons, equivalent to growth of 29.2%.
In a context of gradual volume recovery, this dynamic strengthens PHP’s central position in the national banana sector and highlights the renewed vitality of the country’s agricultural exports.
