At a press conference held on May 25, 2026, in Yaoundé, the President of the Bar Association of Cameroon, Me Mbah Eric Mbah, denounced serious irregularities observed during the entrance exam for the lawyer internship. Amid suspicions of cheating, failures in supervision, and debate over the eligibility conditions of applications, the head of the Bar announced a strengthening of control around an already tense competition.
Facing journalists gathered at the headquarters of the Bar Association, Me Mbah Eric Mbah gave a harsh assessment of the recent organization of the entrance exam for the lawyer internship. “I now want to emphasize supervision,” said the President, referring to facts he considers incompatible with the ethics of the profession.
According to him, a supervisor was arrested and then detained after incidents reported in an exam center. In one room, a test was even canceled by the jury. The cause was statements attributed to a supervisor who allegedly told candidates: “I am not here to supervise you, it is the President,” before encouraging them to use the Internet during the test.
Beyond the acts of fraud, the President also questioned the silence of the candidates present in the room. For Me Mbah Eric Mbah, the vocation of a lawyer implies a moral commitment to justice and respect for the rules.
The press conference also clarified the reasons for the rejection of certain application files, notably regarding the controversial use of professional licenses. The President insisted on the need to regularize these documents. Finally, he mentioned the ongoing challenge of the distribution of lawyers across the entire Cameroonian territory, as several regions remain insufficiently covered.
