Facing security and urban traffic challenges, the Mfoundi prefect temporarily tightens traffic rules on several strategic axes of the capital.
In a decision signed on March 23, 2026, the prefect of Mfoundi Emmanuel Djikdjent announced a series of measures aimed at regulating traffic in the city of Yaoundé. Thus, trucks and motorcycle taxis are prohibited on certain key routes, particularly around the Central Post Office–Hilton–new Bastos Road sector (Minister’s Crossroads), as well as on the Tsinga Sub-prefecture–Congress Palace–Unity Monument–Mont Fébé axis.
These restrictions will apply over two distinct periods: from March 24 to 30, then from April 10 to 20, 2026. Furthermore, areas already prohibited to motorcycle taxis remain unchanged.
The authorities remind that any offender is subject to sanctions provided for by current regulations. Sub-prefects, mayors and law enforcement are mobilized to ensure strict application of these measures.
