Visiting Foumban, the United Nations Resident Coordinator, Dr. Issa Sanogo, toured several municipal achievements alongside local authorities and UN agencies. A stage marked by the visit of a renovated bilingual primary school with the support of UNICEF Cameroon.
The partnership between local authorities and United Nations agencies was once again demonstrated in Foumban. Led by the city’s mayor, the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Cameroon, Dr. Issa Sanogo, visited several municipal projects last week, accompanied by the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and representatives of other UN system agencies.
Among the visited sites was a bilingual primary school recently rehabilitated thanks to the support of UNICEF Cameroon. The delegation was welcomed by the school’s principal, the deputy mayor, and the pedagogical inspector, who presented the work carried out to improve students’ learning conditions.
Beyond its protocolary nature, this visit demonstrates the interest international partners have in local development. By focusing on improving educational infrastructure, local authorities and United Nations agencies aim to foster an environment conducive to academic success and youth development. This commitment is part of a dynamic of cooperation aimed at strengthening community capacities and offering better prospects to communities.
