This is the revolt. COREC fires harsh criticism at the government and directly challenges the President. Ignored strikes, miserable salaries, declining school levels: Cameroonian teachers launch a national petition and demand the immediate signing of the special status.
The cup has overflowed. The Collective of Teachers’ Organizations of Cameroon, COREC, breaks the silence and strikes hard. In an explosive statement dated July 13, 2026, the collective launches a national petition to say stop.
Their target? The President of the Republic. Their message? “We’re fed up.”
“It is no secret to anyone: teachers are victims of unkept promises,” denounces COREC. Neither the Government nor the Head of State would have kept their commitments despite repeated strikes.
Result: a daily life that “only gets worse” and students who pay the price. The school level “only continues to sink.” The symbol of the shipwreck: entry into sixth grade is now at 5/20.
The most serious according to COREC: the exodus. “It is no longer a secret to anyone that every teacher dreams only of leaving the country.”
To be heard, the collective calls for massive mobilization. The goal is to force the “immediate” signing and application of the teacher’s special status. And finally demand the holding of the National Education Forum, promised since 2019 then 2025.
