On the occasion of its 70th anniversary, the Archdiocese of Yaoundé calls the faithful to a celebration marked by gratitude, spiritual renewal and missionary commitment.
The Archdiocese of Yaoundé is preparing to experience a significant moment in its history. On Saturday, June 6, 2026, the faithful are invited to celebrate the 70th anniversary of its creation, a symbolic milestone placed under the sign of thanksgiving and renewal.
In a pastoral note filled with fervor signed on March 26, 2026, the archbishop invites the People of God to recognize the blessings received over the decades. Drawing on the words of the psalm “He has not done so for any nation,” he recalls the wonder of the first missionaries at the work of God in this diocese. A living memory that still calls today for recognition and mission: to make known and share divine goodness.
Beyond commemoration, this celebration is intended as a time of consolidation of faith, strengthening of ecclesial communion and deepening of Christian commitment. It will also coincide with the 45th anniversary of the archbishop’s presbyteral ministry as well as the inauguration of the new Diocesan Central Office of Works in Mvolyé.
The faithful are invited to take part in this event in a spirit of prayer, fraternal joy and inner availability. An opportunity for the entire community to allow itself to be renewed and to affirm its vocation as a faithful witness in the service of the Gospel.
