The prescription of the Secretary General of the party’s Central Committee, Jean Nkuete, is contained in the circular of March 11, 2026, on the celebration of the 41st anniversary of the CPDM. It calls for mobilization in view of the upcoming deadlines.

The Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM) will have been in existence for 41 years on March 24, 2026. This is a time to pause and rejoice in the victories achieved by the party and especially its leader, President Paul Biya, during the last elections. The party swept all 10 regions in the regional elections of November 30, 2025, after winning the senatorial elections of March 12, 2023.

Its president won the presidential election on October 12, 2025. Paul Biya has just begun his eighth term as head of state. And he will implement his “Grandeur and Hope” project in a context where the “CPDM presents itself as the political party acclaimed by the Cameroonian people (…) it always stands proudly behind the national president,” declares Jean Nkuete in the circular.

Nevertheless, beyond the joy, pride, and satisfaction that these victories provide, the party is called upon to redouble its vigilance and agility to consolidate its achievements. To this end, faced with an increasingly competitive Cameroonian political space and a more demanding electorate, the central committee is looking ahead by developing strategies to maintain the party’s leading position.

The Secretary General of the said committee calls for “strengthening the institutional security belt around the President of the Republic’s Grandeur and Hope project so that it can be implemented without hindrance or blockage.” Also, in view of the upcoming legislative and municipal elections, Jean Nkuete prescribes common reflections in all party organs to evaluate the journey and better project themselves. The goal is to achieve significant victories in all electoral districts. This is what motivates the theme of the 41st anniversary of the CPDM: “Let us prepare to further consolidate the strength and place of the party behind the national president.”

Created in Bamenda, the regional capital of the North-West, on March 24, 1985, from the ashes of the CNU, President Paul Biya’s party, after its first five years of operation as a single party, has faced competition since the early 1990s. Today, the party is ranked first out of 369 and is working to consolidate its leadership throughout the territory.
