The campaign will take place from February 25 to March 1, 2026, in the Gazawa district, located in the Diamaré department (Far North), then from March 11 to 15 in the Fotokol district, in parallel with the health districts of Abo (Littoral) and Ngaoundal (Adamawa).
The objective is to reach at least 95% of the target population, aged 9 months to 60 years, excluding pregnant women. In addition to the administration of the yellow fever vaccine, a catch-up of routine vaccination antigens will be carried out for children aged 0 to 59 months.

According to the regional coordinator of the Expanded Program on Immunization for the Far North, Yaya Alhadji Adam, this response follows a resurgence of confirmed yellow fever cases in Cameroon.
In 2025, 29 confirmed cases were recorded in 22 health districts across the country. In Gazawa, which has approximately 88,015 inhabitants, 11 suspected cases were recorded, including two confirmed, while vaccination coverage is low (20% according to health authorities) and the immunity gap is significant due to the presence of vulnerable populations, notably internally displaced persons and nomads.
