After the Europe diaspora, two strongholds of the territory step up. Within 48 hours, the regional federations of the North and West issued two separate statements to convey an almost identical message: full support for the national board and unwavering loyalty to Prof. Maurice Kamto.
A remobilization phase is emerging within the Movement for the Renaissance of Cameroon (MRC). In Garoua, on September 7, 2026, the North calls for “more organization”.

In a solemn declaration, leaders, activists, and supporters from the North region acknowledge “the difficulties and obstacles of all kinds” and the “constant pressures” weighing on the party.
They praise “the considerable work” of the board which relentlessly continues its work of organization, mobilization, and structuring, and pay strong tribute to Maurice Kamto, praising “the consistency, courage, and determination” he demonstrates.
The text summarizes its stance in four phrases: to pressure, it opposes determination; to intimidation, it opposes law; to provocations, it opposes responsibility; to those who would discourage it, it opposes consistency.
For the North Federation, the response to the crisis must be clear: “let our response to obstacles be more organization, let our response to intimidation be more mobilization, and let our response to discouragement remain more determination.”
The West denounces an attempt at destabilization
Two days earlier, it was from Bafoussam that the Regional Federation of the West struck, in a more offensive tone. Activists say they are following “with increased interest, the national news focused around a pseudo-crisis that would affect our party.”
They condemn “the agitations orchestrated by some former activists (…) sanctioned by competent bodies” who would have found as “an escape route, the engagement in legal maneuvers and the display of their collusion with the Minister of Territorial Administration, to destabilize our party and demonize our National President.”

The West provides an important legal clarification: its support goes to “the resolutions of the MRC national board taken in November 2025 and enacting the convocation of an extraordinary convention held by videoconference on December 21, 2025, for the return of Prof. Maurice Kamto as head of the MRC, as national president.” A way to reaffirm the internal legitimacy of the leadership.
The letter, addressed to the “Very dear Political Friend,” describes Kamto as “the only locomotive for the current situation” and assures that “we will lead this fight together to the station.”
A united front before the next battles
From Garoua to Bafoussam, the watchword is the same: tightening the ranks. While the North insists on resilience and the Cameroonians’ aspiration “to freely choose their leaders,” the West highlights Maurice Kamto’s “popular legitimacy” and his image as a “republican, humanist, legitimate” leader.
Both federations assure they are ready to “relay decisions at the grassroots” in view of the upcoming announced deadlines: legislative and municipal elections.
After Europe, the North and West, the MRC is trying to show renewed unity around its national president following the episode of the October 12, 2025 presidential election.
