
The President of the Republic Paul Biya and his wife Chantal Biya organized a ceremony in honor of the victorious players of the 2026 Africa Cup of Nations. Valentine Nguele’s girls received honors commensurate with their performances.
They roared in Morocco. The institutions and the entire nation celebrate their triumph in Cameroon. The Indomitable Lionesses were received at the Unity Palace on Saturday, August 22. During the ceremony attended by government members, officials of the Cameroonian Football Federation, and other stakeholders, the Lionesses were showered with recognition, honors, and honorary distinctions.

In his speech, President Paul Biya congratulated the players for their historic victory at the Women’s AFCON and for their qualification for the 2027 World Cup. “On August 16 in Rabat, you raised the flag of Cameroon on the roof of Africa (…). You made us vibrate throughout the matches with your courage, determination, commitment, and talent. You captivated us with your dynamism, discipline, team spirit, and solidarity.” Declared the Head of State, not forgetting the wonder and joy that individuals like Michaely Bihina, Monique Ngock, and the strength of the collective produced among Cameroonians.
Not only to the players, the President of the Republic also expressed his gratitude, that of his wife, and that of the nation to their technical staff for their “extraordinary work.” Victorious after three final defeats, the Lionesses were able, through their courage and perseverance, to win the trophy. President Paul Biya urges them to persevere in their efforts, remaining disciplined, united, and supportive. “Go forward! Continue to make us dream! Continue to win and honor your country,” declared the Head of State.

Aboudi Onguene and the other Indomitable Lionesses were elevated to the dignity of Knights of the Order of Value. Upon leaving the Palace, Valentine Nguele’s girls received the presidential promise of a house offered by the State of Cameroon. They left equipped with other gifts from the presidential couple. Now, they will be expected on the field to face even greater challenges, notably in Brazil at the 2027 World Cup.
