
The death occurred in France on February 6th due to illness, announced the mayor of the commune.
In a statement dated February 09, municipal magistrate Yannick Martial Ayissi Eloundou expresses the pain of the arrondissement commune of Yaoundé II and pays tribute to the deceased for his qualities. According to the mayor, the municipality has lost “a gifted and experienced servant (…) His career was marked by his high sense of duty, his loyalty, his discretion, and his constant commitment” to the development of the commune.

Roger Marie Essomba had been involved in the management of local affairs for many years. For about twenty years, he worked within the communal executive to drive development in the neighborhoods of Yaoundé city located within the commune’s territory. This allowed him to progress in the municipal council hierarchy. For example, between 2007 and 2013, he was the 4th deputy mayor of the same commune before becoming the 2nd deputy after his term was renewed.
The deputy mayor is hanging up his tricolor sash almost at the end of this extended term and on the eve of elections, at the end of which the commune’s inhabitants would undoubtedly have renewed their confidence in him.
