Fight against corruption: a workshop focuses on integrity and prevention tools

On the occasion of the 2026 African Anti-Corruption Days, the National Anti-Corruption Commission brought together in Maroua the heads of anti-corruption units from administrations, decentralized local authorities, and public enterprises. The work focused on strengthening mechanisms for prevention, control, and promotion of integrity.

Organized from July 8 to 11 in Maroua, the training workshop for the presidents of anti-corruption units was part of the African Anti-Corruption Days, held under the theme of promoting integrity and strengthening prevention actions across the continent.

According to the National Anti-Corruption Commission, discussions focused on several levers aimed at consolidating governance frameworks, including the ISO 37001 standard on anti-corruption management, the African Union Convention on Preventing and Combating Corruption, monitoring of resources transferred to decentralized local authorities, as well as whistleblowing mechanisms and Quick Impact Initiatives.

At the end of the work, the National Anti-Corruption Commission recommended encouraging companies and public institutions to engage in ISO 37001 certification, strengthening consultation with public institutions, and intensifying control over the execution of projects funded by transferred resources. The anti-corruption units were invited to conduct a Quick Impact Initiative during the second half of 2026. Finally, the institution called on integrity actors and citizens to strengthen their collaboration and report corruption cases through the official channels made available to them.
