
A decree from the Head of State published on June 2, 2026 appoints new members and renews the mandate of some former members, signaling the return to activity of the body.
Decree No. 2026/201 of June 2, 2026 appoints the members of the Superior Council of the Judiciary. The text appoints as full members designated by the National Assembly the deputies Marlyse Soppo Toute, Mariam Ngoni, and Engelbert Essomba Bengono. As members designated by the Supreme Court, Mrs. Fofung Nabun Epse Wacka, Cunégonde Christine Mekoulou Epse Ngotty, and Mr. Francis Claude Moukouri. Albert Ekono Nna is the personality designated by the President of the Republic.

In the list of alternate members, the President of the Republic, President of the Superior Council of the Judiciary, appoints the three personalities designated by the National Assembly, namely Mr. Fadil Aliyoum, Donald Malomba Esembe, and Mrs. Rolande Adèle Ngo Issi. As personalities designated by the Supreme Court, the President of the Republic appoints Mr. Oumarou Abdou, Roger Sokeng, and Mrs. Ntyam Ondo Epse Mengue Zomo. Mr. Sali Dahirou is appointed as the personality designated by the Presidency of the Republic.
Upon reading the presidential decree, President Paul Biya opts for continuity within the Superior Council of the Judiciary for the next five years. The statesman appoints five new members and renews 13 whose mandates expired a year ago. Among the personalities designated by the Assembly and appointed as full members, only Deputy Ngoni Mariam, previously an alternate member, makes her entry to replace Ali Mamouda. Among the alternates, Abe Mikhael Ndra and Ngoni Mariam give way to Aliyoum Fadil and Donald Malomba Esembe. Francis Claude Moukouri replaces Isaac Manga Moukouri as a full member designated by the Supreme Court. Meanwhile, Roger Sokeng takes the place of Njumbe Ernest Njumbe in the list of alternate members designated by the same Court. Furthermore, Sali Dahirou occupies the seat left by former Prime Minister Amadou Ali, who passed away on September 27, 2022.
After the appointment of the members of the Superior Council of the Judiciary, it is expected that its president will convene them to a session as was the case in 2020. Following the appointment of the members on June 15, the president of the said council, President Paul Biya, convened the members to take part in the session of August 10, 2020. The next session will then focus on pending files, namely the integration of new magistrates into the body, the appointments of magistrates, and sanctions against certain officials in the administration of justice.
