
Raised from 40.6 to over 51 billion FCFA, the 2025 budget of the Yaoundé Urban Community shows an operating surplus of more than 22 billion FCFA. Among these margins, more than 6.8 billion will be redirected towards the structuring projects of 2026, notably roads, sanitation, and bypass routes.
Gathered in an ordinary session on May 26, 2026, at the Yaoundé City Hall, the councilors of the Yaoundé Urban Community (CUY) examined the accounts of the 2025 fiscal year in a context marked by the municipal executive’s determination to defend its financial management.

Facing the elected officials, the city mayor, Luc Messi Atangana, presented a consolidated budget that increased from 40.6 billion to over 51 billion FCFA thanks to state support and special authorizations obtained during the fiscal year. Operating revenues reached more than 35.9 billion FCFA, with expenses estimated at 13.2 billion, resulting in an operating surplus of more than 22 billion FCFA.
Beyond the numbers, the community executive claims visible investments in several sensitive sectors. More than 3.3 billion FCFA were mobilized for household waste collection, while several roads and civil engineering structures were rehabilitated in different districts of the capital.

The municipality now intends to capitalize on this financial balance. An amount of more than 6.8 billion FCFA will be reallocated to finance the priority projects of 2026, including the rehabilitation of strategic road axes, urban sanitation, and the development of new bypass routes aimed at easing mobility in the capital.
