The National Steering Committee for Integrative Road Programs is assessing the level of completion of integrative projects this Wednesday and is readjusting for better implementation on the ground. During the work of the 10th session of the said committee held on April 29, stakeholders emphasize the levers to be activated to accelerate the implementation of integrative projects in order to align with the policies defined for the coming years. To this end, some delays in projects are due to problems related to project financing.

For the year 2026, the expected disbursement volume for jointly financed road projects is estimated at 337 billion 504 million FCFA. The fund is expected to finance the construction of the Ngaoundere-Garoua road, the construction of sections of the Mora-Dabanga-Kousseri road, the reconstruction of the Edea-Pont de Bivouba-Kribi road, the construction of the Ngatt-Febadi-Likok road, the completion of construction work on the Ndu-Nkambe-Misage section, the rehabilitation of the Maroua-Motourwa and Magada-Yagoua sections, indicates the Minister of Public Works Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi.

However, while these disbursements are expected for achievements in 2026 and beyond, the technical and financial partners supporting the State of Cameroon have provided significant financial support over the past five years. Banks, agencies, and other organizations have mobilized since 2021 a financing volume of 2,076 billion FCFA for the realization of road and air projects, recalls the Minister of Public Works. These funds have been used for the complete execution of several road projects. The government member cites as examples the completion of the Sangmelima-Mintom-Ntam-Mbalam, Lele-Ntam, Batchenga-Ntui-Yoko-Lena, Babadjou-Bamenda, Ndu-Nkambe, Maroua-Mora roads as well as Olama-Bigambo. The combined efforts will further allow the completion of other ongoing projects.
