
His Majesty Tabetando, 2nd Vice-President of the Senate from the South-West region, passed away on April 21, 2026, at the age of 76.
Misfortune strikes the Cameroonian Senate again. The upper house of parliament loses one of its oldest members, His Majesty Senator Nfor Tabetando Ndieb Nso. The native of Bachuo-Ntai in the Manyu department, South-West region, laid down his attributes as a parliamentarian representing decentralized territorial communities while he was in his third term.

Appointed senator for the first time in 2013 when the second chamber of parliament opened its doors, he was among the pioneers of this institution, created in 1996 to defend the interests of local communities. At the end of the first term, His Majesty Tabetando was reappointed to the Senate in 2018, then in 2023, and held a position within the bureau. He was the second vice-president of the Senate at the time of his passing.
A senior member of the Cameroon People’s Democratic Rally, the ruling party, he had been a member of the party’s central committee since 1996. He also chaired its parliamentary group in the Senate. For decades, he worked to establish and consolidate his influence in the party within Manyu and the South-West region, in parallel with his activities outside politics.

Holder of a law degree and a Master’s in Gas Law obtained in London, he was a man of law and an economic operator in the oil sector. Becoming a lawyer after his law studies, he founded his own law firm, Equity Chambers, in 1975 and worked to defend the rights of people and property. He was Chairman and CEO of the oil exploration and exploitation company EurOil Limited, created in 1996 in Douala in partnership with Canadian and British investors. Also known as a philanthropist, Nfor Tabetando Ndieb Nso was discreet and close to the most vulnerable people, qualities necessary to assume the responsibilities of traditional chief of Bachuo-Ntai, which he had been since 1977.
