On the sidelines of the IMFC meetings, Louis Paul Motaze initiates a strategic consultation with the diplomatic representation to better structure and enhance Cameroonian public assets abroad.

In Washington D.C., where the 53rd meeting of the International Monetary and Financial Committee is being held, the Minister of Finance, Louis Paul Motaze, has added a complementary component to his multilateral agenda: the reform of the State’s patrimonial accounting.
During an exchange with officials from the Cameroonian embassy, discussions focused on the need to modernize the management of public assets held abroad. The objective is clear: to have a reliable, regularly updated inventory, and a system capable of ensuring the traceability of the State’s real estate and movable assets.
For the Minister, this approach goes beyond a simple technical operation. It constitutes a governance lever, intended to strengthen the country’s financial credibility, improve the efficiency of public spending, and consolidate transparency in the management of national resources.
The diplomatic representatives, for their part, highlighted the operational constraints they face: difficulty in evaluating certain assets, maintenance requirements, and adaptation to local regulatory frameworks. They nevertheless reaffirmed their availability to support the reforms undertaken.
This consultation is part of a broader dynamic of modernizing public finances, driven by the Cameroonian authorities. It aims to bring national practices closer to international standards, in a context where the quality of patrimonial information is becoming a central indicator of good governance and economic credibility on the international stage.
