In London, Yaoundé advocates an economic integration strategy based on multi-regional alliances and proactive commercial diplomacy.

Led by Minister Delegate Felix Mbayu, the Cameroonian delegation is currently (April 20 and 21, 2026) participating in the 5th edition of the Commonwealth Trade and Investment Summit, held in London. In a context of global trade recomposition, marked by the weakening of certain multilateral mechanisms, Cameroon seized this platform to affirm its priorities.
During the “Invest in Cameroon” session, the government representative highlighted the country’s structural assets, notably its dual legal heritage and its pivotal position between West Africa and Central Africa. This is a way to reposition Cameroon as a credible regional hub, capable of attracting capital and strategic partnerships.
Beyond the discourse, Yaoundé advocates for a shift towards more flexible cooperation frameworks, such as the Commonwealth and the African Continental Free Trade Area, with the objective of transforming fragmented markets into integrated economic spaces, likely to stimulate trade flows and investments.
The highlight of this diplomatic sequence was the signing of an agreement with the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council, paving the way for a regional hub covering several African countries. An instrument that the authorities intend to mobilize to strengthen their economic presence and assert their influence in the continent’s commercial dynamics.
