The vice-president of the Movement for the Rebirth of Cameroon attacks the president of the Cameroonian Party for National Reconciliation over the results of the presidential election.

The results of the presidential election of October 12, 2026 are still the subject of heated debate among political leaders in Cameroon. And Cabral Libii remains at the center of criticism. After recognizing Paul Biya’s victory, he was branded a traitor and accused of receiving a billion [CFA francs] to support the regime.

On February 03, 2026, the president of the Pcrn made a surprising statement, three months after the proclamation of the election results, to recognize Issa Tchiroma Bakary’s unprecedented performance as the best second place in the history of presidential elections since 1990, after Ni John Fru Ndi. He “took 2nd place with 35.17%. In all humility, I also congratulate him,” declared Cabral Libii, specifying that Tchiroma achieved this on his first attempt, behind Ni John Fru Ndi (35.97%) in 1992.

Mamadou Mota, vice-president of the MRC, did not take this statement from the deputy with fair play. According to him, Cabral Libii breaks his silence months after “the uproar, while the blood of some has dried on the asphalt and others languish in the darkness of prisons,” which he describes as “Cynicism.” Also, comparing Issa Tchiroma to Fru Ndi to justify your insignificance is like comparing a fairground lantern to a Breton lighthouse,” he adds.

Mamadou Mota further states that he has understood Cabral Libii’s maneuver, which consists of “failing to win over the people,” flattering the monarch to obtain favors from him. He questions the political fair play that the president of the PCRN speaks of, based on the 30,000 minutes of proceedings he claims to possess but has not presented to enlighten the public on the figures from the ballot boxes in the last presidential election.

Between the two politicians, the clash of ideas is never a gentle one. Mamadou Mota most often seizes Cabral Libii’s statements to remind him of certain facts and try to reaffirm his party’s position, which opposes the regime without expressing reservations. The distance between the two now seems clear. As the elections approach, both are adjusting their positions to better assert themselves on the already alert political scene.
