In a press release published in Paris on February 25, 2026, the Union of Cameroonians Abroad (UCE) announces a radical turning point.
Any tribal hate speech emanating from Cameroonians residing in France will henceforth be subject to systematic reporting to the public prosecutor, according to the press release published on February 25, 2026, by the Union of Cameroonians Abroad. “Enough impunity. Freedom of expression cannot be a license to destroy.” With these words, the Union of Cameroonians Abroad (UCE) is raising its voice against the rise of ethno-communal discourse on social networks. The organization says it observes “with deep concern” the proliferation of calls for hatred, tribal insults and, in some cases, explicit incitement to violence.

According to the UCE, these excesses, sometimes uttered anonymously but also openly, “instrumentalize the history and pain of Cameroon” and weaken the cohesion of the diaspora. The organization believes that these behaviors tarnish the image of the country and jeopardize living together within communities established abroad.
Recalling that French legislation strictly punishes provocation to hatred, discrimination, and threats based on origin or ethnic affiliation, the UCE announces “a radical paradigm shift.”
From now on, any report deemed well-founded will be transmitted to the competent judicial authorities via a filing with the territorially competent prosecutor. “We will no longer let this pass. The ‘professionals of hate’ must understand that the screen is no longer a shield,” warns the press release.
The organization is launching an appeal to victims and witnesses, invited to keep evidence (screenshots, timestamps) and to contact its services for support in the process. It also calls on influencers and online group administrators: “Hate is not an opinion, it is a crime.”
“The time of impunity for digital tribalists is over. Silence kills, the law protects,” concludes the UCE, affirming that “Unity is our fight.”
