The ministerial instruction is contained in a circular signed on February 19, 2026, addressed to his collaborators.
In a circular letter dated February 19, 2026, the Minister of Public Health is putting his foot down. Addressed to the general directors of 1st category hospitals, heads of central and district hospitals, as well as heads of district medical centers and integrated health centers, the correspondence denounces the proliferation of paid parking lots in public health facilities, sometimes entrusted to private operators.
The head of the Ministry of Public Health considers this practice “mercantilist” and out of step with the missions of the public hospital service. According to him, these fees undermine the principle of equal access to care and tarnish the image of hospitals among patients and their companions.
The minister demands the immediate cessation of these arrangements and instructs the competent services to ensure strict monitoring.
