In an official correspondence addressed to the Director General of Transatlantic, the Director General of the Port Authority of Douala announces the partial suspension of security scanner inspection operations for import/export containerized flows.

According to the note, this measure comes within the framework of the implementation of the directives of the Prime Minister, Head of Government, notified through official channels, and in response to the correspondence from the Minister of Finance dated February 13. It concerns certain clauses of the concession contract signed on November 25, 2025, between the Port Authority of Douala and Transatlantic.

This contract covered the full scanner inspection of all import/export flows passing through the port, with the aim of strengthening the security and traceability of goods.
A now restricted field of intervention
As of February 16, 2026, and until further notice, Transatlantic must limit its interventions.

The company is invited to partially suspend the execution of certain clauses of the contract and to refocus its activities on specific flows not operated by SGS.
These include:
non-containerized solid bulk traffic handled in other terminals;
vehicles landed at the container terminal;
empty containers;
out-of-gauge containers.

On the other hand, flows already handled by SGS will no longer fall within Transatlantic’s scope of intervention, in accordance with the new guidelines.

For the practical implementation of this decision, the port authority invites the concessionaire company to contact several officials of the Port Authority of Douala, notably the Technical Advisor, the Commander of the Port of Douala, as well as the Head of the Analysis, Foresight, and Cooperation Division.
The latter are responsible for supporting the operator in the effective application of the new provisions.

This partial suspension marks a significant adjustment in the governance of control operations at the Port of Douala, Cameroon’s main port platform and a nerve center for national and sub-regional foreign trade.

While no specific duration has been put forward for this precautionary measure, it could have significant organizational and operational implications for stakeholders in the port logistics chain.
Future developments will make it possible to assess the real impact of this decision on the fluidity of operations and on the overall port security system.
