
The Defense and Security Forces (FDS) of Niger announced on Wednesday that they had killed more than 47 terrorists and arrested 21 individuals between January 26 and February 1, through targeted airstrikes and sustained ground offensives across the national territory. According to the weekly information bulletin broadcast on national television Télé-Sahel, “a significant volume of equipment was also recovered: weapons, ammunition, vehicles, motorcycles, fuel, and various equipment.”

“The FDS remain fully mobilized, watching day and night to protect the population and their property,” the bulletin stated. Furthermore, the national security situation remained calm over the past week, despite an attempted attack on Air Base 101 in Niamey, which was quickly brought under control by the “immediate and vigorous” response of the FDS.
