Gathered in Mbalmayo, the actors of decentralization and local development are reflecting on the harmonization of planning tools for decentralized territorial communities with the aim of providing municipalities with coherent and shared instruments for more structured and sustainable development.
The city of Mbalmayo hosted on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, a workshop dedicated to the alignment and prioritization of local planning tools. Organized in the Nyong-et-So’o department, this meeting brought together public administrations, municipal magistrates, and key local development actors around a common challenge: improving territorial governance.
The work was chaired by Fred EBONGUE MAKOLLE, representing the Minister of Decentralization and Local Development. At the heart of the discussions was the need to equip decentralized territorial communities with harmonized planning tools, capable of responding to local realities while ensuring better coordination of public policies.
The workshop thus aims to develop planning frameworks recognized by all stakeholders. Ultimately, these instruments should be widely disseminated by umbrella organizations, notably the ARC and the CVUC, to ensure their appropriation and implementation throughout the national territory.
Through this initiative, public authorities intend to strengthen urban organization and promote more coherent, sustainable local development adapted to the needs of the populations.
