Gitega vibrates to the rhythm of youth. On the occasion of the 10th edition of the Imbonerakure Youth Day, ECCAS placed young people at the heart of the emergence project.

Panelist at the Scientific Conference on Peace and Security held on August 27, 2026, the President of the ECCAS Commission, Dr. Ézéchiel Nibigira, made a strong call: “Youth is not only the future. It is the present, the shield of our stability and the engine of our collective emergence.”
Theme of the edition: “Innovate and Act: Youth, Shield of Political-Security Stability, Architect and Pillar of the Emergence of Burundi and Africa”.
By his side, the Commissioner for Peace and Security, General Marcel Mapanou Moussadji, emphasized civic engagement: rejecting disinformation, participating in early warning systems and regional solidarity.
The work was honored by the presence of the Burundian President Évariste Ndayishimiye, current Chairperson of the AU and Champion of the Youth, Peace and Security Agenda.
