During a strategic seminar held in Yaoundé, the Secretary General of the party’s Central Committee gave guidelines to follow for the next six months. The goal is to maintain the party’s leadership in the National Assembly and in municipal councils.

In anticipation of the legislative and municipal elections scheduled for early 2027, the heads of the ruling party’s permanent regional delegations met on Wednesday with members of the central committee and the political bureau. This was part of a seminar on intensifying preparations for the legislative and municipal elections.

The discussions focused on the reasons, prerequisites, and actions for an imperative victory of the party in these elections, which will follow the regional and presidential elections of 2025. These were won by the Rdpc despite “the negative forces imprinted and supported by local, external and spiritual enemies against the flourishing of Cameroon” during the presidential election, noted the Secretary General of the central committee in his opening speech at the seminar held in Yaoundé on the 22nd.

These same elections revealed that the ruling party and its champion face significant competition from the opposition. And they highlighted the need for the party to find new strategies to maintain its achievements in parliamentary and local assemblies. Because the general state of the environment does not favor the party on the eve of the elections, recalled Jean Nkuete.

During the seminar, the Secretary General of the party’s central committee thanked the permanent regional delegations for the work accomplished over the last ten years and especially during these last elections. While urging them to continue and complete the preparation for the upcoming deadlines with the aim of strengthening the RDPC’s majorities.

To do this, the party at all levels must not give in to “defeatism” but must “more gallantly and more proudly retain the champion titles we hold in the communes, regions, the National Assembly and the Senate,” and prepare to defend them without fear, exhorted the Secretary General. In this fight to defend and secure its stability and hegemony, regional leaders are urged to maintain serenity to reassure grassroots activists, lucidity, foresight, realism, and political pragmatism. It is necessary to provide close-up work and permanent contact with the populations throughout the period of intensified election preparation.

The party is simultaneously relying on its traditional schemes and on solutions commensurate with the stakes to find more effective arguments. All of which requires rigorous and methodical work, appeasement in the ranks, identification of strengths and weaknesses, determination of ambitions, mobilization of financial resources, among others.

Thus, in the coming months, the focus will be on resolving issues of mobilization, supervision, information, and awareness. Participants in the seminar receive training to be effective on the ground before the convocation of the electorate. They are thus sent on a mission to transmit them at the regional, departmental, section, and district levels.
