The Secretary General of the Central Committee of the Cameroon People’s Democratic Rally -Rdpc- sets the guidelines to strengthen the party’s majorities in the assemblies.

Majority party in the National Assembly with 152 deputies out of 180 and in the vast majority of municipal councils 316 municipalities out of 360, the RDPC is preparing for the upcoming elections with a clear objective. The ruling party aims to strengthen its majorities held in the lower house of parliament and in the municipal councils, the deliberative bodies of the municipalities. This is the statement of the Secretary General of the party’s Central Committee who, a few months before the next elections, addresses his executives and militants. He gives them guidelines to achieve this goal following a presidential election in which the performance of their champion, President Paul Biya, historically declined. Dropping from 71.28% in 2018 to 53.66% in 2025, a regression of 17.62% with a remarkable failure in the diaspora.

For the coming months before the legislative and municipal elections, Deputy Prime Minister Jean Nkuete renews his calls for caution and discernment. Especially in this period conducive to the manipulation of public opinion by tribalist and hateful speeches, the creation of divisions among the president’s collaborators, the instrumentalization of the media for positioning purposes. The Secretary General insists on strengthening party unity, respecting the prescriptions of caution, humility, discipline, discernment, and responsibility for its militants who appear in the media. The goal is that their discourse does not harm the party’s image or give the impression of cacophony.

According to the message, the priority is to intensify the mobilization of personnel on the ground. This operation therefore concerns “the rigorous and systematic monitoring of registrations on the electoral lists, the political control of electoral districts, the supervision of voters,” it reads. Thus, he set the compass on June 2, 2026, for a winning pre-electoral action in the face of an increasingly difficult electorate to understand and conquer. The successive extension of the mandates of deputies and municipal councilors that took place some time ago has gained time for the party and thus gives it the opportunity to readjust on the ground.
