The president of the Patriotic Movement Organization is concerned about a certain “selective intervention” by the administration in the functioning of political parties. The president of the said party, Léon Theiller Onana, makes a comparison between the treatment reserved for the RDPC and that of other political parties.
The Patriotic Movement Organization breaks its silence. The political party makes public its position regarding the exchange of letters between the Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji, and the MRC. The government member who refuses to recognize the resolutions of the convention held in December 2025. The Movement for the Renaissance of Cameroon denounces the violation of the law by the minister. Between the two parties, the OMP sides with the MRC to denounce the minister’s stance.

Léon Theiller Onana’s party considers this stance as “contrary to the requirements of administrative neutrality, equality before the law, and democratic pluralism.” While the minister seems closely interested in the activities of the MRC, the OMP tries to redirect his attention also towards the Cameroon People’s Democratic Rally. The party whose legality of mandate extensions within the governing bodies, the Central Committee and the Political Bureau in particular, is questioned by the OMP.
The RDPC municipal councilor of the Monatele commune, Léon Theiller Onana, challenged before the Mfoundi High Court on July 2, 2025, the resolutions of the RDPC Political Bureau of November 3, 2016. This was on the grounds that the mandate of the members of said Bureau took resolutions two months after the end of their mandate in September 2016. It was also at this time, recalls Léon Theiller Onana, that President Paul Biya’s mandate at the head of the party expired. He insists by stating that the RDPC congress held from September 15 to 16, 2011, re-elected President Paul Biya as party president for a five-year term. But since then, the congress has not met again. The mandates of the party’s national president, the central committee, the political bureau, the national OFRDPC office, and the national OJRDPC office have been extended by a resolution of the Political Bureau held on November 3, 2016, at the Yaoundé Congress Palace.
After the referral to justice for the case, the procedure is “still pending.” With the approach of municipal and legislative elections, the OMP raises the issue again and calls on the Minat who “must focus on the concerning case of the RDPC.” In a statement dated September 1, 2026, the OMP asks Elecam and the Constitutional Council to reject all RDPC lists presented without prior holding of the legal congress; demands from the jurisdictions seized a rigorous application of the law. The party also invites Minister Paul Atanga Nji to apply the same legal vigilance to the RDPC as that deployed on other political formations.
