Geosciences: MINMIDT supports the 4th symposium scheduled in Bertoua

The Minister of Mines, Industry and Technological Development received on March 4 a delegation from the Cameroon Geoscience Society who came to present the organization of the 4th geoscience symposium scheduled for March 25 to 27 at the University of Bertoua.

The Ministry of Mines, Industry and Technological Development (MINMIDT) served as the setting on March 4, 2026, for an audience dedicated to the promotion of geosciences in Cameroon. Prof. Fuh Calistus Gentry, Acting Minister, received officials from the Cameroon Geoscience Society (SCG), a learned society committed to the promotion of Earth sciences.

The delegation, led by the Rector of the University of Bertoua and represented by the Vice-Rector in charge of internal control and evaluation, Prof. Akono Omgba, came to present the 4th edition of the geoscience symposium which will be held from March 25 to 27 at the University of Bertoua. Under the theme “Building a sustainable blue economy together”, this scientific event aims to bring together experts, public decision-makers and professionals in the sector.
The discussions highlighted the importance of this meeting for the promotion and enhancement of geosciences, as well as for strengthening synergies between the academic world and socio-economic actors.
The Minister of Mines welcomed the SCG initiative and reaffirmed the ministry’s support for this learned society, particularly in the implementation of the mining policy carried out by the government.
The audience ended on a note of satisfaction shared by all stakeholders, with the hope that this symposium will contribute to the sustainable development of the sector.
