Georges Elanga Obam, Minister of Decentralization and Local Development (MINDDEVEL), granted an audience on Tuesday, March 03, 2026, to a World Bank delegation led by Ashley Taylor, Manager at the Global Practice for Fiscal Policy and Economic Growth.
This meeting is part of the dynamic of consolidating cooperation between MINDDEVEL and the international financial institution. The discussions mainly focused on the drafting of decree projects currently being finalized, as well as the technical and financial support mechanisms necessary for their effective implementation.
Both parties conducted an assessment of the progress of the texts and examined the prospects related to the application of reforms undertaken within the framework of the decentralization process. The stated objective is to ensure a better distribution of resources for the benefit of Decentralized Local Authorities, while guaranteeing more efficient and transparent management.
At the end of the discussions, MINDDEVEL and the World Bank reaffirmed their commitment to continue close and constructive collaboration. This synergy aims to produce concrete results, capable of sustainably improving the living conditions of grassroots populations and strengthening local governance.
