
The chief municipal magistrate of the commune passed away on the night of March 03 to 04, 2026, in Douala following an illness.
The mayor of the commune of Makénéné in the Mbam and Inoubou department, Centre region, David Imbeng has departed for eternity. Illness got the better of him as he was nearing the end of his term, which began following his election as head of the municipal executive in October 2020. He defeated his predecessor Brolin Njantou in the poll. Over these last five years, he worked within the framework of decentralization on the implementation of development projects for the benefit of his locality.

The United Communes and Cities of Cameroon (CVUC) association, which confirmed his death this morning, honors the memory of a “Man committed to the service of local development.” According to the organization of communes, David Imbeng “marked his term with proximity to the populations and his attachment to the progress of the commune.”
In the same vein, the news of the mayor’s passing reaching the village of Kinding-Ndé sparked a reaction from the village chief. His Majesty Feugnandeuh said he learned “with affliction” of the mayor’s death. According to him, Makénéné loses a committed son of its land, a devoted servant whose action and determination marked our district’s march toward progress and cohesion,” he wrote. His Majesty also bows before the memory of a man of responsibility, attached to local development and the well-being of his populations. He extends his condolences, those of his notables and the entire chiefdom, to the family of the deceased, the municipal council, administrative and political authorities, and the populations of Makénéné.

Recognized as the man who worked for the improvement of the living conditions of the populations, David Imbeng carried out community infrastructure projects. Populations pay tribute to him, remembering that he is not the first mayor to permanently leave the stage while in office. This was already the case with David Kinding, Daniel Tchato Fongang, or Bosco Siakam.
