Cameroon: Madegoua mourns 13 people killed in an attack attributed to Boko Haram

In this small village of Madegoua, only 9 km from Makary, in Logone-et-Chari, the night was thought to be peaceful. At 2 a.m., on the night from Wednesday to this Thursday, September 17, death arrived on a motorcycle. Armed men, whom everyone there calls Boko Haram, surrounded the village. They fired. Without distinction. Women, men, elderly, according to testimonies.

This morning, the sand of Madegoua is red. 13 bodies lie on the ground. 13 lives torn away. Entire families decimated. Children waking up orphaned. And as if the pain was not enough, these populations are already dying slowly. The rain did not come this year. The fields are dry. The millet no longer grows. The animals can die of thirst.

In Madegoua, people no longer know what they will die from: hunger, thirst, or a bullet at 2 a.m. Logone-et-Chari is on its knees. The bodies of the 13 victims were buried on September 17.
