With an estimated population of over 4.3 million inhabitants in 2025, Douala produces more than 700,000 tons of waste per year, a significant portion of which remains uncollected, particularly in isolated areas. Only 65% of waste is currently managed.
The new call aims to strengthen local management in the districts of Douala 1st to 5th. The selected structures will be responsible for door-to-door collection and the transport of waste to collection points. Applications are expected at the Douala Urban Community no later than March 12, 2026, at 3:30 PM, according to the document published by the Mayor’s office.
