The issue is strategic: to sustainably increase cereal production in the agricultural basin of the West, considered the country’s granary, and to address food insecurity.
The focus was on high-yield hybrid varieties, more resistant and adapted to climate change.
This activity is part of the TAAT Maize Compact program, funded by the African Development Bank (AfDB), with partners IRAD and the African Agricultural Technology Foundation (AATF).

For the government, this approach reflects the desire to move from subsistence agriculture to production agriculture, putting research at the service of the farmer.
