Wednesday, August 12, 2026, in Yaoundé, the Central Hospital of Yaoundé presented the 2nd edition of its institutional magazine Bulletin Santé Messa. Behind this communication tool lies a strong political ambition: the implementation of the 2025-2027 Establishment Project. The stated objective: to transform the HCY into a “Showcase Hospital for accessible quality hospital care” and to strengthen the resilience of the national health system.
The Central Hospital of Yaoundé wants to turn a new page. 95 years old, this hospital-university institution created by decree no. 2509 of November 24, 1931, has adopted a new roadmap to meet public health challenges.
It is in this context that, on August 12, 2026, the press conference presenting the Bulletin Santé Messa, the institutional magazine of the HCY, took place. Far from being a simple information medium, this bulletin aims to reflect a profound transformation initiated by the management.

A tool for accountability
In its second edition, Bulletin Santé Messa aims to become “a tool for accountability, education, and cohesion.” It should allow the hospital to report on its projects, explain its strategic choices, and highlight the skills of its staff. But above all, to open the debate on priority public health issues and document best practices so that they can be replicated in other health facilities.
The core of the system: the 2025-2027 Establishment Project
This transparency approach directly supports the implementation of the 2025-2027 Establishment Project. Developed participatively, adopted by the Management Committee, and endorsed by the Minister of Public Health, this document constitutes the true “roadmap for the transformation of the HCY.”
The ambition is clearly stated: to make the Central Hospital of Yaoundé a “Showcase Hospital for accessible quality hospital care.”
Concretely, the project is structured around seven key strategies. Priority is given to optimizing governance, remobilizing staff, and restoring trust with users. On the technical level, it plans the modernization of infrastructures, equipment, and practices, with the ultimate goal of “holistic and humanized patient care.”

Humanization and Modernization: the reform’s dual focus
The HCY intends to consolidate its status as an “excellent and humane hospital-university institution.” This transformation is based on the hospital’s motto: Service – Quality – Integrity. Service places the patient at the center, Quality demands continuous improvement, and Integrity guarantees ethics, transparency, and responsibility.
Aligned with the orientations of the Ministry of Public Health, this reform also aims to contribute to Cameroon’s emergence by 2035. “Drawing on its history and status as a reference institution, the Central Hospital of Yaoundé intends to play a leading role in hospital transformation,” emphasizes the management.
By aspiring to be a “learning institution,” capable of innovating and evaluating its interventions, the HCY hopes to strengthen the resilience of the entire national hospital system and sustainably consolidate the trust of the population.
With Bulletin Santé Messa and its 2025-2027 Project, the Central Hospital of Yaoundé lays the foundations for a more modern, more humane, and more accessible hospital model.
