The hospital has issued a clarification.
The General Directorate of the Yaoundé General Hospital reacted on February 9, 2026, to a rumor described as “fake news” that has been circulating on social media in recent days. This rumor claimed that Cameroonian musician Racine Sagath had been expelled from the hospital due to “unpaid bills.” According to the institution, this information is “totally unfounded.”
In an official statement, the Yaoundé General Hospital specifies that the artist was admitted to the institution during the second half of January 2026, in a “worrying state of health.”
In accordance with current medical protocols, Racine Sagath was cared for by the hospital’s medical teams and received appropriate treatment and all the necessary expertise to treat his conditions.
After several days of intensive care, the artist’s health improved significantly. He left the hospital on Monday, February 2, 2026, being “sufficiently recovered to leave on his own.” The hospital described this discharge as “medically favorable.”
Contrary to the allegations circulating on social media, the hospital’s General Directorate confirms that Racine Sagath has “no unpaid bills” to the institution. His care was fully covered by the Yaoundé General Hospital, in accordance with the commitments and responsibilities of this public institution.
