Strong winds as well as landslides could also occur in some of these regions according to forecasts from the National Observatory on Climate Change (ONACC).
In its climate alert bulletin covering the next 10 days from August 11, the National Observatory on Climate Change warns of flood risks in seven of the ten regions of Cameroon. Until August 20, occasional and successive heavy rains of long duration as well as drainage problems may cause flooding.

In the Littoral region, the localities of Nkongsamba, Loum, Manjo, the city of Douala are exposed to this phenomenon between August 11 and 13 and between the 15th and 18th of the month. During the same period, the localities of Buea, Bamusso, Limbe, Mundemba, Barombi Koto, Bova, Betika, Bokwa, Dikome, Bafaw, Bokwango, Idenau, Iloani, Kombo A Wase, Kumbe Balue, Kumba, Munyenge, Njonji and Menji in the South-West region face the same flood risk.
In Adamaoua, the city of Ngaoundere, and the areas of Bambol, Louga, Bindiba, Mayo Boutali as well as the localities of Bogota, Guere, the city of Maroua, Tokombere, Yagoua and Gazawa in the Far North are on the list of risk zones for the period from August 13 to 20, 2026.
In the North, the red period is between August 13 and 18. The localities concerned by the flood risk are Tchollire, Lagdo, Garoua, Rey Bouba, Lam (Benoue), Mayo-Lope, Pitoa, Foumbang and Barndake. The North-West region is also among the regions threatened by waters. The city of Bamenda, the localities of Oku, Kumbo, Djottin, Ajung, Batibo, Fundong or Kimbi may experience flooding between August 11 and 14 and between the 17th and 19th of the month.

The same period is favorable for torrential rains that can cause flooding in the West region, particularly in the areas of Bafang, Fonmdop, Fongotafo, Bangambi, Dschang, Foumban, Tafo, and the city of Bafoussam.
Moreover, between August 11 and 15 as well as on the 18th of the month, forecasts announce landslide risks in some localities of the North-West, South-West, West and Littoral regions. Consecutive days of heavy and prolonged rains, steep slopes and excessively saturated soils are factors that can cause these risks.
These forecasts, beyond alerting populations about the risks, constitute a call both to them and to institutions. ONACC alerts thus invite both to take measures to reduce floods, landslides, as well as effects on people and property, such as deaths and destruction of homes.
