It was in France that the native of Yaoundé made the biggest impression. Arriving in Europe at AS Monaco in 2008, Nicolas Nkoulou quickly established himself before joining Olympique de Marseille in 2011. Under the Marseille jersey, he played 207 matches, a career record, and won the League Cup in 2012. He then wore the colors of Olympique Lyonnais during the 2016-2017 season.
In total, the central defender played 253 Ligue 1 matches. After France, he continued his career in Italy, at Torino, for four seasons, then in Turkey (Gaziantep, Amed SK, Sakaryaspor). Unattached since last August, he has chosen to turn the page.
With Cameroon, Nkoulou participated in three World Cups (2010, 2014, 2022), several Africa Cup of Nations tournaments, as well as the 2008 Olympic Games, leaving behind the image of a reliable and respected player.
