The two civilians are victims of an attack attributed to members of the armed group Boko Haram in the Far North region.

The locality of Tourou in the Mokolo district, Mayo-Tsanaga department, was the scene of an incursion by armed men on the night of August 3 to 4, 2026. The attack claimed the life of a 52-year-old man, while a 13-year-old teenager was kidnapped and taken to an unknown destination. Local media sources report the abduction of two children.

Furthermore, assailants recognized as fighters of the Boko Haram group targeted several homes. They took significant quantities of food supplies, livestock, and various material goods belonging to the villagers. After the attack, the assailants headed towards the mountains at the border with Nigeria to escape the military response.

Attacks attributed to the Islamist sect Boko Haram have been recurring in recent weeks. Three people were killed during an attack attributed to fighters of this group on the night of July 30 to 31 in the Mayo-Tsanaga department. On the night of July 2 to 3, 2026, another Boko Haram attack caused nine deaths, all civilians, and nine injuries in the locality of Milari, about seven kilometers from the city of Kousseri in the Far North region.
