As the legislative and municipal elections approach, several political parties are remobilizing or creating grassroots bodies, engaging with the populations to better prepare for the upcoming electoral deadlines.
A few months before the municipal and legislative elections, several political parties are active on the ground. The Patriotic Movement for the Prosperity of the People (MP3), the Movement for the Renaissance of Cameroon (MRC), the Cameroonian Party for National Reconciliation (PCRN), the Cameroonian People’s Democratic Rally (RDPC), and the Front for Change in Cameroon are intensifying their local activities across the country.

At MP3, the national president, former presidential candidate on October 12, 2025, Samuel Hiram Iyodi, is setting up branches in localities across Cameroon. This action, taking place in several localities, signals the realization of an ambition: to strengthen the party’s territorial anchoring. To bring it closer to the populations who will choose their representatives through the upcoming elections.
At MRC, the time is for holding general assemblies of the party’s statutory structures in certain constituencies of the country. The assemblies held in Moungo and Wouri this month are examples. According to the organizers, these meetings attract many people, indicating that the party is gaining more popularity and sympathy.
At PCRN, the national president is starting a tour in the Sanaga-Maritime department. He will be in Ngambè on August 1, 2026. Deputy Cabral Libii meets with the populations to gauge the mood of the localities on the eve of the upcoming electoral deadlines, during which the party is expected to confirm its influence both at the municipal councils and at the National Assembly.
The Cameroonian Democrats Front, for its part, is intensifying calls for voter registration, with the revision campaign closing on August 31. The party president, Denis Emilien Atangana, insists on the formation of inclusive candidate lists for the upcoming elections.
At the Cameroonian People’s Democratic Rally, after the conclave on July 22, regional, departmental, and section leaders are called to mobilize on the ground to ensure the party retains its majorities won in previous elections.
Beyond mobilizing populations, militants, and grassroots bodies of political parties, opposition political formations in particular also express a willingness to associate in order to better approach the upcoming elections.
