
The Republican Party (PR) says it is concerned about the kidnapping of its president and calls on the competent authorities to take all necessary measures to ensure his safety.
The Defense and Security Forces arrested Georges Gilbert Baongla on Monday, July 20, 2026, on National Road No. 3 near the city of Edea, according to some sources. According to the Republican Party, its president was kidnapped by masked men near Edéa. The political party specifies that its leader was followed by an unmarked vehicle before being intercepted.
