At the closing of the 51st Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie, the president of the Cameroonian Senate, Aboubakary Abdoulaye, called on Francophone parliamentarians to defend dialogue, cooperation, and solidarity in the face of crises that weaken the international order.
The 51st Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie ended on July 11, 2026, in Yaoundé with a plea in favor of multilateralism and cooperation between states. In his closing speech, the president of the Senate, Aboubakary Abdoulaye, congratulated the new president of the APF, Nathalie Roy, while paying tribute to the Cameroonian Hilarion Etong, whose term at the head of the organization was praised for his commitment to parliamentary dialogue.

The Cameroonian official highlighted the two main themes of the work dedicated to multilateralism, state sovereignty, and climate change. Faced with conflicts, attacks on international cooperation, and a deficit of climate solidarity, he urged Francophone parliaments to defend more inclusive and equitable cooperation mechanisms.

Aboubakary Abdoulaye also emphasized the need to ensure effective follow-up of the resolutions adopted by the various APF bodies, notably the Francophone Youth Parliament and the Network of Women Parliamentarians. Praising the involvement of Cameroonian authorities in organizing this meeting, he expressed the participants’ gratitude to President Paul Biya for his support of the event, before reaffirming the Cameroonian Parliament’s commitment to contributing to the influence of La Francophonie and parliamentary diplomacy.
