The Ministry of Tourism and Leisure wants to accelerate the modernization of its communication strategy. Gathered in Yaoundé around a digital marketing training project, sector leaders aim to strengthen the international visibility of the Cameroon Destination through digital tools.

The Ministry of Tourism and Leisure (MINTOUL) is taking a digital turn to improve Cameroon’s positioning in the international tourism market. In Yaoundé, a working session chaired on May 18, 2026, by Technical Advisor No. 2, Kazi Palaï Josué, representing the minister, presented a digital marketing training project intended for the ministry’s staff.
Presented via videoconference by Christine Boumtje, Director of Global Perspective, with the support of experts including Prof. Isidore Bikoko, the project aims to strengthen MINTOUL’s capacities in using modern communication and tourism promotion tools.
Around the table, directors, division heads, and officials from the Tourism Promotion Directorate discussed mechanisms likely to increase Cameroon’s digital presence. The goal is to better showcase tourist sites, cultural heritage, and leisure offers of the country on digital platforms and social networks, now essential in the global competition of destinations.
The program includes specialized training sessions to equip ministry agents with new tourism marketing practices. MINTOUL officials believe that a coherent digital strategy is now a key lever to improve Cameroon’s attractiveness and capture new visitor flows.
Through this initiative, the government intends to adapt national tourism promotion to international standards and strengthen the competitiveness of the Cameroon Destination in an increasingly digital environment.
