The regional director of the National Social Insurance Fund for the Centre, South and East regions is requesting the intervention of security forces.

In a letter addressed to the governor of the Centre region, the regional director of the National Social Insurance Fund (Cnps) for the Centre, South and East regions requests the deployment of security forces. These forces will intervene as part of the national campaign for the forced recovery of social contributions owed to the Cnps by certain employers, a campaign ordered by the fund’s general director.

The figures are impressive. According to the regional director, employers in the Centre region owe a cumulative amount of 88,164,476,605 CFA francs. The amounts of contributions they refrain from paying nevertheless jeopardize the social rights of workers and pensioners, regrets the director. The forced recovery operation aims to recover these contributions in order to restore these workers and pensioners to their rights. In order to ensure the safe conduct of operations in the field, the presence of security forces is necessary.

However, while the forced recovery of social contributions appears to be a profitable campaign for the affected employees and pensioners, it still raises questions about the deployment of security forces. The unstable economic situation of companies, as well as the various shocks that weaken the business environment, require consideration of the grievances of employers acting in good faith on the one hand. But they cannot justify the bad faith of unscrupulous employers on the other hand.
