Faced with the persistent malfunctions of tax platforms, the Cameroonian Association for the Defense of Taxpayer Rights calls on the Ministry of Finance and advocates for a postponement of deadlines to avoid a massive failure of economic actors.
The digital transition of the Cameroonian tax administration shows its limits. In a letter addressed to the Minister of Finance on May 4, 2026, the Cameroonian Association for the Defense of Taxpayer Rights (ACDC) warns of “serious and persistent difficulties” that prevent many users from fulfilling their obligations online, particularly within the framework of the General Synthetic Tax (IGS).
At the heart of concerns is the instability of the Harmony platform, dedicated to tax declarations, deemed “inaccessible to a large number of taxpayers.” Added to this are the failures of the Trésor Pay system, whose use of the OTP system frequently blocks payment validation. Result: interrupted procedures and growing frustration among taxpayers.
The ACDC also denounces server saturation as deadlines approach, forcing accountants and tax specialists to work “under exhausting conditions,” often at night. “This situation exposes practitioners to real risks related to stress and insomnia,” the association emphasizes. Even more worrying, some tax obligations would be wrongly applied, notably the requirement for the Statistical and Tax Declaration (DSF) for taxpayers not concerned.
These malfunctions directly affect very small and medium-sized enterprises, the main targets of the IGS regime, which find themselves technically unable to comply with deadlines. The ACDC thus fears unfair penalization of good-faith taxpayers.
To avoid a deeper crisis, the association proposes extending the IGS deadline until June 30, 2026. It also calls for prior stabilization of the platforms, correction of misclassification errors, and the establishment of an emergency communication mechanism in case of failure.
While welcoming the efforts already made by the authorities, the ACDC insists: tax modernization “cannot be done at the expense of taxpayers,” who expect a reliable and accessible system.
