At the heart of the controversy are viral posts mentioning a war arsenal and electoral fraud. The MDI leader claims defamation and has taken the matter to the Yaoundé-Ekounou Court of First Instance.

In a correspondence dated February 23, 2026, and addressed to the president of the Yaoundé-Ekounou Court of First Instance, Dominique Djeukam Tchameni, currently detained at the Kondengui central prison, claims to have been the victim of serious accusations relayed on social media.
In his complaint, the politician explains that “on the night of October 24, 2025, he was arrested at his home in Douala by law enforcement, before being transferred to Yaoundé.” He claims that on the same day, journalist Bidjang Oba’a Bikoro François Bruno allegedly launched “an extremely serious campaign of disinformation and defamation” on his Facebook page.
According to the complainant, several of the journalist’s posts allegedly claimed, “without any factual basis,” that a search conducted at his home led to the discovery of a significant arsenal and material related to supposed electoral fraud. The posts notably mentioned “9,734 fake ELECAM minutes, AK-47 assault rifles, a Beretta pistol, ammunition, military uniforms, tramadol, more than 48 million CFA francs in cash and via Mobile Money, as well as sophisticated communication equipment.”
Dominique Djeukam Tchameni maintains that these allegations, presented as proven facts and accompanied by promises to broadcast images “which were never produced,” were widely shared on social media. According to him, these posts aimed to “present him to public opinion as a dangerous individual, a criminal, and a conspirator preparing acts of violence and large-scale fraud.”
The MDI president finally asserts that these accusations are “entirely devoid of any foundation” and requests the intervention of the justice system so that responsibilities can be established.
